Photography has been my passion since childhood, but it has only been in recent years that I have been able to pursue it as a professional activity. Growing up in communist Czechoslovakia offered very few opportunities for aspiring photographers to gain access to the necessary equipment or the training, and the regime in its final years hardly encouraged professions that are grounded in freedom of artistic expression.
